‘Contours’ Exhibition Text - Herman’s

Sean Farrell, an Irish artist, has developed a unique approach to exploring the psychological impact of colour. A graduate of IADT Dun Laoghaire in 2024 with further studies at HDK Valand in Gothenburg, Farrell’s work is entirely abstract, focusing on the raw, unfiltered experience of colour and its influence on perception.

In Sudden Parallels, Farrell presents a large-scale work measuring 130 x 270 cm that encapsulates his ongoing investigation. The expansive canvas is divided into distinct sections, where vivid yellows, deep blues, and soft lilacs interact within a composition that is both harmonious and dynamic. The title suggests the unexpected relationships that emerge through the careful arrangement of these colours. Farrell's precise use of lines and balanced forms guides the viewer's eye across the canvas, creating a seamless flow between the colour fields. This interplay reflects the idea of “parallels” - elements that are distinct yet connected, forming a unified visual experience. With Sudden Parallels, Farrell continues to explore how abstract forms and colours can evoke deep emotional responses, encouraging moments of introspection and clarity.
